A creative guy named Jwall from PrintThatThing just made a 3D armor for his tabby cat Bobo. With this armor, Bobo is now ready for any battles and not afraid of any threats.
Jwall kindly offers his design for free, you only need to print it out. “Now cats all over the world can roam safely. The entire design can be built with one hundred percent 3D printable parts.” – said Jwall.
In case you’re not familiar with 3D printing technology, Jwall offers all the help you need on his page!
Let’s view Jwall’s 3D armor for his cat.
“We started off first just drawing out how we wanted the overall look and vibe of the armor to be,” said Jwall, “and I suggested that it should have spikes, because I always pet [Bobo] in a reverse pattern so his hair’s all crazy and he looks like a spiky tiger.”
The armor is also functional – one of the plates has a small hole for a leash and there’s an ID tag attached to the breastplate. So, no matter what battle your kitty gets into, now you can be sure the feline will come back home safe and sound.
However, any armors cannot be done without a helmet. Constructing one for a cat can be quite a challenge to Jwall so that he asked for ideas from other people on his Thingiverse page. In many sketches and designs were submitted, Jwall chose Craig Petersen’s design for the helmet as his feature to complete the suit.
“The Oni” , “Eye of Scorpion” and “Battle Kitteh of the Universe” was 3 titles that Jwall named his designs and chose the last option. It took Jwall a couple of week to transfer Craig’s work into 3D program. Then Bobo proudly modeled it after the helmet was finally printed.
