Old Japanese Lady Found Herself A Special Feline Companion

Japanese photographer Miyoko Ihara has been taking pictures of her 92-year-old grandmother Misao to record the days of the woman for over 17 years. Things got more interest when Misao found an odd-eyed cat 12 years ago, and it remained being her favorite companion since then.

The cat was named Fukumaru, which means “a circle of good fortune” in Japanese. And that’s exactly what the cat brought Misao: calm and happy days with each other. Fukumaru never leaves Misao’s side and will follow her everywhere, even when she goes out to the fields for work. The cat was like her little nephew who loved being taken care of by his granny. There was such a strong bond between the woman and the cat, so Ihara decided to photograph both of them together. Her work received a lot of attention from the Internet.

You can check out the hard copy of her cover portrait album here: “Misao the Big Mama and Fukumaru the Cat“, and learn more about the artist here. Finally, scroll down for sweet pictures of the pair.

Update: Sad news of the cat…
